Compost

What is compost? Put simply, compost is a mixture of ingredients used as plant fertiliser and to improve soil's physical, chemical, and biological properties. Generally compost sold within the retail sector is made up of a mix of peat, loam, grit, sand and fertiliser. However, as we move towards a 'peat free' world then the likes of coir, wood fibre and green waste are rapidly replacing the peat content.

Our main suppliers are Levington, Miracle Gro and  Irish based, Evergreen Horticulture. We've been using these brands within our own growing programme and on the whole they provide a reliable and consistent mix.

We stock all the various types of compost available, from the most popular multi-purpose (does what it says on the tin) to the more specialised ones such as seed & cutting, bulb fibre, citrus and succulent mixes. We also have available compost additives like perlite and vermiculite, along with soil improvers and mulches like farmyard manure and decorative barks.
