Seed Potatoes

Seed potatoes seem to increase in popularity every year and with over 30 varieties available we are one of the largest stockists in the area.

They arrive soon after our Christmas break, usually 1st or 2nd week of January. Across all of the varieties you will find them divided between three categories, 1st Early, 2nd Early and Main crop. (some suggest that salad potatoes should be in their own category but generally they fall within 2nd Earlies). These categories help in determining the best planting and harvesting schedules.

Most are supplied in 2kg nets along with smaller 'taster' packs which include 10 seed potatoes.

Please see below our stock list for the coming 2026 season. As time goes on certain varieties sell out faster than others so if you require a specific variety please contact us to confirm we still have availability.

Delivery

We do not operate an online ordering system for delivery.

We much prefer customers to visit in person and select the plants, pots, sundries etc. themselves. Then we can arrange delivery if required. This avoids any disappointment caused by plants not meeting customers criteria and also ensures you receive the items that you saw and chose.

Of course for bulky items such as compost, grits, gravels and water softener salt tablets we are more than happy to accept telephone orders for delivery.

Whilst there is no minimum spend for delivery there is a small charge to cover costs. Local delivery starts from £10 and this covers areas such as Gt Dunmow, Thaxted, Stansted, Elsenham and Bishop's Stortford. Areas beyond these incurr additional charges. Please ask for details.

PLEASE NOTE

Although we are 'traditional' we do accept all methods of payment including credit/debit cards, Apple or Android pay, our own Gift Vouchers and of course good old fashioned cash!
