Perennials

Perennials, perhaps more than any other group of plants, offer an infinitely rich palette of colour, form, fragrance and texture. There are perennials suitable for almost every area in the garden, however large or small.

Perennials are defined as non-woody plants that live for two or more years. Some such as Helleborus niger, are evergreen, and so provide valuable winter interest. Most, however, are herbaceous, and die back in autumn.

We offer an extensive selection of perennial plants. Along with the 'Old Favourites' such as Lupins, Foxgloves and Delphiniums you'll also find alpine perennials, grasses and ferns. The vast majority of our perennials are supplied in recyclable 1 litre pots. Throughout the growing season we also have larger 3 litre pot specimens of certain cultivars.

During the peak perennial months (April-June) we can have over 200 different varieties available.

Due to our high turn around of plants and because we deal with many other growers beside ourselves, maintaining published stock lists is extremely difficult. The best way to find out if we have something is to either visit us in person or contact us via phone, email or social media. That all said, below is a list of typical perennials that we have in stock throughout various times of the year.

  • Check carefully for nesting birds before clipping hedges
  • Tie in the new shoots of climbing plants
  • Plant out Dahlia tubers once all chances of frost have passed

Delivery

We do not operate an online ordering system for delivery.

We much prefer customers to visit in person and select the plants, pots, sundries etc. themselves. Then we can arrange delivery if required. This avoids any disappointment caused by plants not meeting customers criteria and also ensures you receive the items that you saw and chose.

Of course for bulky items such as compost, grits, gravels and water softener salt tablets we are more than happy to accept telephone orders for delivery.

Whilst there is no minimum spend for delivery there is a small charge to cover costs. Local delivery starts from £10 and this covers areas such as Gt Dunmow, Thaxted, Stansted, Elsenham and Bishop's Stortford. Areas beyond these incurr additional charges. Please ask for details.

PLEASE NOTE

Although we are 'traditional' we do accept all methods of payment including credit/debit cards, Apple or Android pay, our own Gift Vouchers and of course good old fashioned cash!
