Fruit & Vegetables

Through the year we stock a varying range of fruit and vegetable plants. Spring is the best time of the year for our pot grown selection such as tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, courgettes etc. Alongside our pot grown range we also sell 6 & 12 pack vegetable plug plants, including amongst others, peas, beans, broccoli, cabbage, lettuce, onions, carrots, beetroot, etc. As with our 'pot grown' range the vast majority of these are all grown on site by ourselves.

We also supply a lovely selection of English grown culinary and medicinal herbs. The range of these increases as the weather warms up.

Autumn and Early winter is the best time of year for soft fruit such as blueberries, blackcurrants, gooseberries and raspberries. These are best lifted and transplanted during their dormant stages. The majority of our soft fruit is English grown, lifted in autumn and then containerised ready for sale from November onwards. Raspberries are sold in packs of 5 canes.

The Autumn period is the best time for our English grown, containerised, fruit trees. Container grown trees are more reliable than bare root as they already have an established root system. This means that although Autumn and Spring are the best times of the year to plant out, they can actually be planted at any time of the year, avoiding mid Winter.

We offer a wide selection of apples, pears, plums, cherries and other miscellaneous species such as damson, medlar and quince. It is our aim to provide a selection all year round though the best selection is available from early November through to late spring.

Delivery

We do not operate an online ordering system for delivery.

We much prefer customers to visit in person and select the plants, pots, sundries etc. themselves. Then we can arrange delivery if required. This avoids any disappointment caused by plants not meeting customers criteria and also ensures you receive the items that you saw and chose.

Of course for bulky items such as compost, grits, gravels and water softener salt tablets we are more than happy to accept telephone orders for delivery.

Whilst there is no minimum spend for delivery there is a small charge to cover costs. Local delivery starts from £10 and this covers areas such as Gt Dunmow, Thaxted, Stansted, Elsenham and Bishop's Stortford. Areas beyond these incurr additional charges. Please ask for details.

PLEASE NOTE

Although we are 'traditional' we do accept all methods of payment including credit/debit cards, Apple or Android pay, our own Gift Vouchers and of course good old fashioned cash!
